Job Description

We've been engaged by a top law firm in Denver to identify aTrademark Paralegal! This role supports the legal team in the management of trademark-related matters. The job involves assisting trademark attorneys with the preparation, filing, and maintenance of trademark applications and ensuring that the client's trademark rights are properly secured and defended.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Trademark Filings:

    • Assist in preparing and filing trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or international offices.
    • Monitor the progress of trademark applications and ensure deadlines are met.
    • Prepare necessary documentation and correspondence for trademark filings, including renewals, amendments, and oppositions.
  2. Trademark Searches and Investigations:

    • Conduct trademark searches to identify potential conflicts or issues with new trademark applications.
    • Analyze and report on search results, providing recommendations based on findings.
  3. Recordkeeping and Documentation:

    • Maintain and organize records of all trademark matters, including correspondence, filings, and renewals.
    • Track and ensure timely renewal of trademarks to maintain active status.
    • Monitor and maintain the status of trademarks in national and international jurisdictions.
  4. Trademark Enforcement:

    • Assist in preparing cease-and-desist letters and other enforcement actions to protect trademark rights.
    • Assist in responding to office actions and third-party inquiries.
    • Help with monitoring trademarks for infringement and unauthorized use.
  5. Client Communication and Support:

    • Liaise with clients to gather information for filings and provide updates on the status of trademark matters.
    • Provide reports on trademark status and advise clients on maintaining their trademark portfolio.
  6. Legal Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct legal research related to trademark law and recent decisions, keeping the legal team informed.
    • Analyze trademark filings, applications, and legal precedents to assist in the decision-making process.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Typically requires an associate degree in paralegal studies or a related field. A certificate in trademark law or intellectual property is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in trademark law, with knowledge of the USPTO and trademark registration process, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in trademark databases (e.g., TESS, TSDR), and familiarity with office software such as MS Word, Excel, and legal management tools.
